Are you interested in teaching and research related to materials engineering in a team with advanced research in strong industry collaboration? If so, this is a good opportunity for you!

Background
The Department of Engineering and Physics at the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology has an extensive activity in the fields of materials and mechanical engineering, covering both research and teaching. The department offers courses for the faculty’s Master and Bachelor degree programs in materials and mechanical engineering and the Bachelor program in innovation and design engineering. The department has a strong research activity in materials engineering focused on advanced steels and materials produced by additive manufacturing, within areas of fatigue and tribology. The relation between material’s microstructure and mechanical properties is studied through material analysis, mechanical testing and modelling. The research in mechanical engineering is focused on applied mechanics, as well there is production engineering with focus on lean production. National and international research collaboration is performed with university and industrial partners.

The department also has significant teaching and research activities in materials physics. Scientists in materials physics and mechanical and materials engineering together form a large research group in materials science prioritized by the university. Presently, the department has about 50 employees, including 9 professors, 9 associate professors, 3 senior lecturers, 7 doctoral students and 16 junior lecturers.

Duties
The main duties include teaching and research in materials engineering, and cooperation with industry and society. The teaching duties are mainly in engineering study programs with bachelor, master and research students. The teaching is in the materials engineering discipline. Teaching in selected fields of mechanical engineering may be required.

It is expected that the successful candidate will join and cooperate within the existing research work at the department, and also have the ambition to further develop a personal research profile and work in collaboration with industrial partners.

Duties also include administrative tasks and assignments within the university.

Qualification requirements
