Are you interested in educating future engineers and contributing to a sustainable and digitized construction industry? We are looking for an architect or engineer with a PhD and professional experience from building planning and design, as well as expertise and an interest in sustainable development and BIM.

Description

The Department of Engineering and Chemical Sciences at the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology has a staff of approximately 50 members and offers courses within four engineering programmes, teacher education, foundation year studies, and bachelor programmes with various specialisations.

Building and Construction Engineering is one of four subjects within the department. In addition to teaching Real Estate Management students and others, the subject houses one of the University’s biggest engineering programmes - the Study Programme in Building and Construction Engineering. The teaching rests on a foundation of sustainable development/sustainable construction, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and digital aids for the construction process. These include drafting instruments as well as planning and design tools such as environmental databases. Construction accounts for a significant portion of the global climate impact and we therefore strive to address these challenges, from the bachelor level through to the research level. Our approach is to educate students in areas such as sustainable construction, various aspects on energy in buildings, lifecycle analysis, circular economy, etc.

The subject’s research is in a development phase and focuses on different aspects of sustainable construction, primarily in wood construction, within Pro2Be, https://www.kau.se/en/pro2be.
Much of the department’s research is conducted in regional and national industry collaboration.

Duties

As senior lecturer in Building and Construction Engineering, you will be active in the planning, execution, and development of teaching within the scope of the Study Programme in Building and Construction Engineering. You will contribute to course development at the master level and serve as course examiner within the subject. In addition to teaching, you will be expected to further the ongoing establishment of the department’s research and actively apply for external funding to facilitate the initiation and execution of new research projects.

You will primarily teach fundamental building technology, building and spatial planning, computer-aided planning and design, and sustainable construction. You and the other teachers all share responsibility for developing teaching in digitisation. Teaching in academically adjacent subjects and study programmes may also be required. The language of instruction is Swedish.

To contribute to a positive work environment and help further the subject’s activities, we expect you to be a present and active part of the day-to-day operations and workplace community.
