Description
This senior lectureship in Economics is based at the Karlstad Business School, which was founded in 2009 and comprises the disciplines business administration, economics, information systems, law, statistics, and working life science. We offer courses and programmes at all levels, supported by robust research in the disciplines as well as in multidisciplinary research groups.
We offer subject courses as well as courses that form part of study programmes. The Master of Science in Business and Economics programme offers specialisations in economics and financial economics. At Karlstad University, research in economics concentrates on welfare economics, behavioural economics, labour economics, industrial organisation and macroeconomics.

Duties
Duties include teaching, research, supervision, examination and administration. We are seeking a good pedagogue who wants to participate actively in further developing our teaching and research. The successful applicant is expected to play and active role in applications for external research funding and should also contribute to further developing the discipline’s external network.

Qualification requirements
The eligibility requirement for appointment as senior lecturer demonstrated teaching expertise and a doctorate in Economics, or equivalent.

A completed course in higher education pedagogy, or an equivalent qualification, is required for appointment as senior lecturer. Under special circumstances, this course may be completed within two years of employment as part of the professional development commitment. (For other qualification requirements, see Karlstad University’s regulations for the appointment and promotion of teaching staff and Ch. 4 Sec. 4 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance.)

Assessment criteria
In the ranking and selection of candidates, equal weight will be given to applicants’ research and teaching expertise. In assessing research expertise, special weight is given to scholarly publications of the last five years.
Special weight is further given to demonstrated experience of leading research projects and attracting external research funding. Considerable weight is given to good spoken and written skills in both Swedish and English, since teaching is offered in both languages. Considerable weight is given to teaching experience in the areas of financial economics, macroeconomics, labour economics or econometrics. Considerable weight is further given to good ability to cooperate so as to contribute to the further development of the discipline.

Karlstad University appreciates the added value gender parity and diversity give to operations. We would therefore like to encourage applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities and life experience.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, non-fixed-term position with starting date at the earliest convenience as per agreement. A probationary period may be required.

Application
The application should include well-documented qualifications. Applicants are responsible for documenting qualifications in a way that allows for an objective and qualitative assessment of candidates, and for submitting a complete application in accordance with the advertisement before the deadline, so that all their skills can be assessed.

The application should include:
