Description
CTF, the university’s Service Research Center (www.ctf.kau.se), is one of the world’s leading research centers in the area of services. The center employs around 70 researchers and doctoral students who conduct research in psychology, business administration, information systems, working life science, sociology, and the sociology of religion. CTF is renowned for its extensive partnerships with business and public enterprises and is one of the two designated excellent research groups at Karlstad University. All staff are employed at the subjects comprising CTF, and we are now recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in business administration.

Duties
This postdoctoral position in business administration is located at Karlstad Business School and connected to ongoing research at CTF. More specifically, the position is connected to our research on organisations’ client relations during innovations. The specific focus is on studying the collected data on clients’ experiences of new offers made by businesses and organisations. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to work in a team currently investigating this area. Knowledge of different types of statistical processing is therefore important.

The appointed postdoctoral researcher must clearly strive for excellence. In this context, excellence refers to publications in journals rated three or four in the ABS rankings. The aim is for the research to contribute knowledge that is relevant to the academy, consumers and CTF’s external partner organisations. The position mainly comprises research (usually around 80%) while the remainder usually includes teaching and other development work.

Qualification requirements
The eligibility requirement for appointment as postdoctoral researcher in business administration is a doctorate in business administration or an equivalent qualification achieved abroad. The doctorate may not have been obtained more than three years prior to the application deadline. If there are special reasons, the required qualifications may have been obtained earlier.

Assessment criteria
In assessing the applicants, considerable weight is given to their research qualifications, particularly to publications in international journals relevant to CTF’s research areas and the specialisation of this position. Considerable weight is also given to applicants’ qualitative and quantitative data processing skills. It is important that applicants are highly motivated and have a well-developed ability to work independently as well as with other researchers, as much of the research at CTF is done collaboratively, also across disciplinary boundaries.

Terms of employment
A postdoctoral position is normally restricted to two years’ full-time employment, as per the central collective bargaining agreement. The period may be extended in special circumstances, for example parental leave or illness. Starting date as agreed and at the earliest convenience.

A condition of employment as postdoctoral researcher is that you have not been employed as a postdoctoral researcher under a central contract for more than a year in the same or a similar discipline at Karlstad University.

Application
The application should include well-documented qualifications. Applicants are responsible for documenting qualifications in a way that allows for an objective and qualitative assessment of candidates, and for submitting a complete application in accordance with the advertisement before the deadline.

The application must include:

  • An application letter in which applicants briefly describe themselves and their qualifications in relation to the position’s specialization (max. 2–3 pages)
  • CV with certified copies of transcripts, certificates, etc.
  • Copy of PhD thesis and other relevant publications
  • Other documents applicants wish to refer to
  • The contact details of two references, or two reference letters

The application is submitted electronically via the university’s web-based recruitment system Varbi. Documents and publications should be attached to the electronic publication (do not provide links only). One copy of each document that cannot be submitted electronically should be sent to:
