PhD position in Computer Science, specialisation in Privacy and Security - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

A PhD position is available within the Privacy and Security Group (PriSec) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University. Research within PriSec is specialized on privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), network security, and usable security and privacy.           

The position is focused on privacy and cyber security in relation to the Internet of Things (IoT). The candidate is expected to contribute to research within the research project Secure and Private Connectivity in Smart Environments (SURPRISE), funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).

The successful candidate shall have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: information security, PETs, privacy enhancing identity management, network security, security and privacy for IoT, applied cryptography, and Human Computer Interaction (HCI), including usable security & privacy.

Very good programming skills as well as very good oral and written communication skills in English are required for the position.          

The candidate should be able to work independently, as well as in a team; and be enthusiastic about pushing the state-of-the-art. Collaboration with academic and industry partners through national/ international research projects is expected.         

Eligibility
Eligible for this position are candidates with a University degree of 240 ECTS, of which at least 60 ECTS were awarded for courses at advanced level and have a Master’s degree or the Swedish Magister or Civilingenjör Degrees in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Eligible are also those candidates who have achieved corresponding degrees or knowledge in Sweden or abroad.

Terms
The position is limited to 4 years, but can be prolonged for up to one more year, if the PhD student also takes over other research, teaching or administrative tasks besides her/his PhD research. Those tasks should not exceed 20% of the time of a full-time position. The earliest date for filling the position is September 1, 2018.
