At Karlstad Business School and the subject of Information Systems, we work in a dynamic environment characterised by curiosity and job satisfaction, as well as a noticeable ease of collaboration with the surrounding society’s organisations. We are now looking for another driving force who wants to participate in Karlstad Business School’s development in terms of collaboration, research, and teaching. The Business School’s mission: “We educate responsible professionals and conduct research with high societal impact” shows the direction for our operations.
Research is conducted in several areas within Information Systems, and we participate in interdisciplinary collaborations with centre formations at Karlstad University, not least with CTF – Service Research Center and CSR – Centre for Research on Societal Risk Research, and with other universities. Karlstad Business School is AACSB-accredited.
Education is conducted at all levels in informatics with the support of strong research both in the subject environment and multidisciplinary research groups. We conduct undergraduate education within three programmes and one master’s programme as well as doctoral education within Information Systems. The tasks include teaching, supervision, and development work in education at all levels and in research. The position as a university lecturer includes competence development time of 20%. You are expected to take an active part in applications for external research funds and should contribute to developing the Business School’s external contacts. You are also expected to be able to function as a co-supervisor for doctoral students. Assignments of an administrative nature may occur. The educational activities are conducted in both Swedish and English and cover informatics but also support teaching efforts in other subjects.
To be eligible for the position of senior lecturer in Information Systems, applicants are required have demonstrated teaching expertise. Applicants are also required to hold a PhD or equivalent academic qualifications in Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications deemed relevant to the nature of the position and the duties included therein. The work presupposes good knowledge of Swedish and English.
Pursuant to Karlstad University’s Appointments Procedure, teachers must have the personal qualities required to perform the duties included, as well as completed training in higher education pedagogy. Candidates who have not completed courses in higher education pedagogy may still be hired, provided that they use the time allotted to continual professional development to complete the required courses within two years of employment, or that they apply for validation of prior learning.

In the assessment, special and equal importance is attached to pedagogical and scientific skill. The scientific skill is assessed, among other things, based on innovation and independence, and where broader and deeper production is given precedence.

Of special weight is successful research within digital transformation with interorganisational perspectives and sustainability perspectives, and that there is a good prognosis for future scientific activity, based on quality rather than quantity, within areas essential for the subject of Information Systems in Karlstad, especially design and innovation work for digital products and services.
Of special weight is also attached to documented experience and ability to lead and communicate interorganisational development work and develop contacts with the surrounding society.
Of special weight importance are pedagogical appointments.
Of special weight are also personal qualities such as good cooperation ability, good judgement, responsibility, commitment to the operations, as well as good administrative ability and a positive attitude towards colleagues and students. Of particular importance is the ability and willingness to make an academic career where research applications and publications are a central part.

Of considerable weight is demonstrated ability to assess how knowledge development and knowledge progression for different student groups, based on student-centred teaching, affect the design of teaching and examination.

The position is a full-time (100 %) permanent position, starting at the earliest convenience upon agreement. A probationary period may be required.
