The Faculty of Health, Science and Technology is accepting applications for a position of visiting research fellow at the Department of Engineering and Physics. The department’s education and research activities within the fields of physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and materials engineering, are extensive. The research in mechanical and materials engineering comprises several research areas. One of those areas is paper engineering, primarily focused on cardboard materials. Presently, the department has approximately 60 employees.
Main duties comprise research in paper mechanics. Models based on the fibre structure of the cardboard are to be designed and developed. In particular, the models are needed to identify the mechanical shear properties in the thickness direction of the paper. The models will most likely provide an increased understanding of experimentally produced materials data. The properties of the material are an important factor in the moulding process, where the cardboard is folded.
In order to contribute to a positive working environment and help further the subject’s activities, we expect you to be a present and active part of the day-to-day operations and workplace community.
To be eligible for the position, applicants are required to hold a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably specialised in material modelling or equivalent academic qualifications. The applicant must have well-documented expertise in the field of solid mechanics.
A good command of English is required.
