Description

Karlstad Business School, inaugurated in 2009, comprises the disciplines of Working Life Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Law, Economics, and Statistics. Courses and study programmes on all levels are conducted with a strong basis in research from both specific disciplines as well as interdisciplinary research groups, where the largest research environment is CTS, Service Research Center (www.ctf.kau.se). There is a large network in place, both nationally and internationally, which provides good conditions for new research projects and assignments.

Business Administration is mainly taught within the framework of three study programmes, Business and Economics, Real Estate Management, and International Business. There are also several Master’s programmes as well as the research programme for doctoral students. Approximately 1,000 students are enrolled in the different study programmes in Business and Economics, and Karlstad Business School as a whole has about 2,600 students.

Duties

In addition to research, duties also include teaching, supervision, assessment and administration. A certain level of development work within the subject or within Karlstad Business School may also be included. Teaching may include both first- and second-cycle courses on campus, web-based or distance, which is why it is important that you have well documented teaching skills. This career-development position includes 75% research and 25% allocated to other activities at the department.

The duties as associate senior lecturer will be linked to ongoing research within CTF, Service Research Centre. More precisely, duties will be based on CTF’s current research project Swedish Innovation Index (https://www.kau.se/en/ctf/research/ctf-research/impact-cases/swedish-innovation-index-sii), which focuses on the innovativeness of Swedish companies and organisations from a customer perspective. Special focus will be placed on analysing data collected on how customers experience the innovative ability of different companies and organisations. Another important focus is the development of new methods to better understand how organisations’ innovation work leads to improved customer satisfaction. The associate senior lecturer is expected to be part of the current research team. Duties will consist of, among other things, different types of statistical processing and analyses. Furthermore, scientific publication is an important part of the research work and you are expected to publish papers based on the research conducted.

In addition to conducting research, publishing scientific papers and contributing to seminar activities, duties also include applying for external research funding, creating networks, and national and international collaboration with other researchers. This also means, among other things, that you are expected to actively participate in various subject, research and project meetings.

You are also expected to collaborate with the larger community to create mutual exchange and work to ensure that the knowledge and expertise available at the university is put to good use in society. The goal is, thus, for the research to contribute with knowledge of relevance to the external partners of both Karlstad Business School and CTF.

In order to contribute to a positive working environment and help further the subject’s activities, we expect you to be a present and active part of the day-to-day operations and workplace community. This means that you will contribute to the activities of Karlstad Business School, the subject of Business Administration, as well as CTF’s research environment.
