Description

The Department of Language, Literature and Intercultural Studies is seeking a Research Assistant in English Linguistics (fixed-term). Research in English Linguistics at Karlstad University is conducted in a range of linguistic subfields, many of which are of an applied nature, and is related to the Centre for Language and Literature Education (CSL). The position is announced in the field of bi/multilingualism.

Duties

The advertised position of Research Assistant will provide targeted support for a book project on language maintenance. Duties include the carrying out of systematic literature reviews, the collection of example scenarios and vignettes and the preparation of a glossary, as well as related tasks.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment, the applicant is required to hold a Degree of Master of Arts (120 cp), with a specialisation in English or General Linguistics, or equivalent. 

The applicant must have well-documented expertise in the field of bi-/multilingualism and should be able to demonstrate knowledge of a broad range of linguistic subfields as well as methods in linguistic research.

Special weight will be given to experience in carrying out systematic literature reviews and working with reference management software. Special weight will also be given to a high proficiency in English.

Terms

The position is fixed-term and full-time (100%). The employment period is 13 November – 31 December 2021, and is non-extendable.
