Description
The Department of Engineering and Physics offers courses for the faculty’s engineering degree programmes, including courses in electrical engineering. The faculty has a Bachelor programme in electrical engineering focused on electrical power technology and the use of renewable electric energy. The department is investigating the possibilities for starting a Master programme in electrical engineering. The bachelor programme has good connections to the regional industry and new engineers are very attractive on the job market. We now need to strengthen the Bachelor programme by recruiting a senior lecturer.

 

The department conducts research in the disciplines electrical engineering, physics, materials engineering and mechanical engineering. A large part of the research is done in cooperation with industry and regional organizations. The research in electrical engineering focuses on networks for renewable energy, statistical signal processing, control and robotics.

 

Duties
The position includes teaching courses in electrical engineering at undergraduate and master levels, as well as doing research in electrical engineering and related subjects. The research topics should be focused on power electronics, electromechanical systems, electric machines and drives. In addition to basic electrical engineering courses, teaching focuses on electrical power technology, power electronics (including digital and analogue electronics), electromechanical systems and electrical machines. Teaching includes theoretical components and practical laboratory exercises. Duties may further include special responsibility for developing and teaching in laboratory exercises.  You will be given the opportunity to, and is expected to create contacts for new projects in teaching and research in cooperation with external partners, e.g. industry and authorities, as well as seeking external funding for such projects. Duties may also include administrative tasks.

 

Qualification requirements
To be eligible for the position, the applicant is required to have demonstrated teaching skills in the field, and hold a Doctor’s degree in the field of electrical engineering, or equivalent scientific qualifications, or other professional skills that are relevant for the position and the duties involved.

 

The position requires good knowledge in Swedish and English. If any of those skills are lacking, a person can still be appointed on condition that the person has the ability to actively acquire such skills

Teachers must have the personal qualities that are required to fulfil the employment well, good ability to cooperate, good judgement, responsibility, and commitment, and a positive attitude towards colleagues and students.

 

Applicants are also required to have a completed course in higher education pedagogy, or equivalent. In special circumstances, the course in higher education pedagogy may be completed within two years of employment as part of the professional development commitment

 

 

Assessment criteria
Equal weight is given to teaching and research skills. The teaching skills are judged by assessment of the ability to plan, conduct, and evaluate teaching, as well as ability in supervision and examination. The research skills are judged by assessment of scientific quality and volume, taking into account both depth and width, in electrical engineering.

Special weight is given to research focused on power electronics, electromechanical systems, electric machines and drives, as well as success in attracting external research funding.

Special weight is given to experience of teaching and course development in the fields of power electronics, electromechanical systems, electric machines and drives, as well as to personal qualities. Weight is also given to experience of both theoretical components and practical laboratory components in teaching.

Experience of administrative assignments and programme development in electrical engineering is meritorious.

Experience in the field of electrical engineering in industry, as well as established national and international networks is meritorious. Experience of cooperation with schools is meritorious
