Description
Since autumn 2017, Karlstad University offers a complete law degree (270 ECTS credits), the seventh law programme in Sweden. The programme includes basic legal training with specialisations in tax law, business law, criminal/procedural law, and human and social law and provides general qualifications for service as a law clerk. The department also offers a range of courses that currently is aimed primarily at students enrolled in the Business and Economics programme, the Real Estate Management programme, the Human Resource Management and Working Life programme, the Political Science programme and Social Work programme. The department of law has about 20 members of staff, among them, six professors, one reader, four senior lecturers and one lecturer, as well as seven doctoral students. Alongside of programme development, Karlstad Business School is also investing in the development of research at the department and established a doctoral programme in law in December 2014 with eight specialisations: general law, civil law, financial law, international law, environmental law, public law, procedural law and criminal law. The department is planning to recruit staff in several central legal fields and sub-disciplines, and is now looking for a senior lecturer in central civil law.

Duties include teaching in central civil law, such as commercial contract law, sale of goods law and the law of obligations. Teaching in other, closely related areas may be required. Duties also include planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching within the law programme and other programmes at both bachelor and master’s level (especially in the specialisation business law), and supervision of academic papers at these levels as well as degree projects. We are looking for a senior lecturer with excellent teaching skills who also wants to participate actively in the department’s development of the new programme at bachelor and master’s level, as well as the development of the doctoral programme, which is offered in collaboration with other higher education institutions. The senior lectureship includes 20% of working hours for research. We expect active participation in applications for external research funding and in the development of the department’s external relations, especially in terms of research within the fields of civil law and business law. You are expected to participate in the department’s day-to-day activities as much as possible.

The applicant should have demonstrated excellent teaching skills at bachelor and master’s level (or equivalent), as well as having research experience within the field of civil law and/or business law.
