Description
Karlstad Business School is recruiting a senior lecturer in working life science, which is an interdisciplinary subject based on several perspectives and theoretical fields related to work and employment. Courses are offered at undergraduate, master and doctoral levels in the subject, as well as the Bachelor programme Human Resource Management and Working Life. Research is pursued in the areas of the labour market, its actors and functioning, organisation of work, leadership models, terms of employment and work environment, technology and digitisation, work–family relationship, approaches to work and various requirements of ethical obligation and personal commitment, and power and resistance in the workplace.  One or several of the categories gender, class, age and ethnicity are central analytical categories. The staff has around 20 members, including two professors, two associate professors, three senior lecturers, one visiting lecturer and twelve doctoral students.

Duties
The position of senior lecturer is in the subject working life science at the Business School.  The main duties are consistent with a university's threefold mission: teaching, research, and outreach. The position includes teaching and related tasks in undergraduate subject courses and the Bachelor programme, including course development and teaching contract courses.

The position is expected to strengthen our expertise in the field of leadership, which means that many of the duties will be related to this field. A further duty of importance is to participate in efforts of research collaboration and research funding and to produce research and popular science publications. In addition, the senior lecturer is expected to take responsibility for and actively engage in external cooperation.

Qualification requirements
A person who has a doctorate in working life science or equivalent research qualifications with relevance to the duties and has demonstrated teaching expertise is eligible for the position, and completed course in higher education pedagogy. This course may, under certain conditions, be completed within two years of employment as part of the professional development commitment.

Assessment criteria
Special weight is given to research and teaching expertise of relevance to the position and its duties. Special weight is also given to research, teaching and networking in the leadership field, since this is the profile of the recruitment. Good command of Swedish and English and ability to speak and write in both languages are requirements given special weight.

Considerable weight is given to ability to work independently and ability to apply for and succeed in attracting research funding from various financing organisations, and to documented ability to participate in networks, to develop projects and to lead and pursue research in interdisciplinary environments. We also place great value on personal qualities such as ability to establish good relationships with colleagues and students, as well as power of initiative and commitment. Documented ability to communicate science is a valuable qualification.

The candidate who, after a qualitative assessment of competencies and expertise, is deemed to have the best qualifications to perform and develop the required duties and to contribute to a positive development of the subject, will be appointed. In case of equal qualifications, priority will be given to the candidate whose experience of research, teaching and cooperation is considered to be of greatest relevance to the position.

Terms of employment
The position is full-time, non-fixed term employment with start date at the earliest convenience. A probationary period may be used.
