Description
The Service Research Center (CTF; www.ctf.kau.se) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is one of the world’s leading research centres in the area of services. The centre employs around 60 researchers and doctoral students who conduct research in psychology, business administration, information systems, working life science, sociology, and the sociology of religion. CTF is known for its extensive collaboration with businesses and public agencies. Our research focuses on challenges faced by both the private and public sectors, and CTF is one of the two designated excellent research groups at Karlstad University. All our staff members hold positions in their disciplines and we are now seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in psychology.
Duties
One of the important research areas at CTF concerns subjective wellbeing and sustainable everyday travel. This postdoctoral position will be connected to this research area, focusing specifically on accessibility and the subjective wellbeing of individuals at different stages of life. The needs of and conditions for an inclusive society with an ageing population, from an individual perspective, are particularly important for this postdoctoral position.
The position mainly involves research, but also collaboration with actors outside academia. The position further involves producing publications in international academic journals in relevant areas, e.g. transport psychology, wellbeing, accessibility or social exclusion, dissemination of research results at national and international academic conferences, as well as collaboration with different non-academic partners in solving social problems. The position also includes the writing of research funding applications. In addition to research, at the most 20% of the position usually comprises teaching and other development work.
Qualification requirements
The eligibility requirement for appointment as postdoctoral researcher in psychology is a doctorate in psychology or an equivalent qualification achieved abroad. The doctorate may not have been obtained more than three years prior to the application deadline. If there are special reasons, such as parental leave or illness, the required qualifications may have been obtained earlier. Applicants should have knowledge of accessibility from an individual perspective.
Assessment criteria
-Experience of partnership activities with actors in the transport sector.
-Experience and examples of the writing of research funding applications.
-Experience and examples of teaching.
-Experience of research on sustainable transport and subjective wellbeing.
Terms of employment
A postdoctoral position is normally restricted to two years’ full-time employment, as per the central collective bargaining agreement. The period may be extended in special circumstances, for example due to parental leave or illness. Starting date as agreed and at the earliest convenience.
A condition of employment as postdoctoral researcher is that the applicant have not been employed as a postdoctoral researcher under a central contract for more than a year in the same or a similar discipline at Karlstad University.
Application
Application should include well documented qualifications. Applicants are responsible for submitting a complete application in accordance with the advertisement and for ensuring that the documentation allows for objective and qualitative assessments.
