The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology is seeking a lecturer in mathematics education.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has two research disciplines: mathematics and computer science. Mathematics offers two main doctoral programmes, namely in mathematics and mathematics education. Presently, there are four senior lecturers and two doctoral students in the mathematics education section, with additional researchers and lecturers with links to the field. Mathematics education is part of the SMEER centre (Science, Mathematics and Engineering Education Research), which has around ten senior research members and fifteen doctoral students. Research activities centre on learning and teaching using digital tools, professional development for teachers, and teaching mathematics in preschool and preschool class. Research is carried out in interdisciplinary groups at the university and in established cooperation with other universities. Courses are mainly offered as part of the teacher education programmes for pre-, primary and secondary school levels.
Duties
The duties include teaching, course development and convening, as well as supervision of degree projects in the teacher education programmes for pre, primary and lower secondary school levels. Time is set aside for professional development in accordance with local agreement.
Duties also include cooperation with other colleagues and sections of the university as well as the wider community. Ability to cooperate in teacher teams and other groups is an essential aspect of duties and is therefore a requirement.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have relevant qualifications such as a Master's degree or a teacher education degree.
Assessment criteria
Special weight is given to experience of teaching and developing courses in mathematics education for pre- primary and lower secondary education and to good ability to teach in Swedish.
Considerable weight is given to personal qualities such as ability to cooperate, to create good relationships to colleagues and students, and to take initiatives.
