The Department of Social and Psychological Studies offers courses at undergraduate and master’s level in Gender Studies, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. The department also offers doctoral programmes in Psychology, Sociology and Social Work.
The department is now recruiting a licentiate student in Psychology. The focus of this licentiate studentship is on anxiety in general and social anxiety more specifically, taking both clinical and developmental approaches. Social anxiety is common, and a fear of public speaking is the most common fear experienced by people with social anxiety. However, persons seldom experience only a single problem, and comorbidity is the rule rather than the exception in both general and clinical populations. Accordingly, research is needed that focuses on the mechanisms connected to the development and treatment of comorbidity. The specific focus of this licentiate studentship is on anxiety and/or comorbidity between anxiety and other illnesses, such as sleeping problems, pain, depression and cognitive impairment.
The successful applicant is admitted to a doctoral programme leading to a licentiate degree and comprising 120 ECTS credits, the equivalent of two years’ full-time study. The applicant is expected to start during early spring 2019.
