Description
Intercultural Studies is an interdisciplinary cultural subject focusing on cultural encounters and is offered by the Department of Language, Literature and Intercultural Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The subject has a well-established course offering in Swedish and English for different target groups. Courses are offered both on campus and as distance education and at various rates of study. Several courses are also offered during the summer. In addition to our ordinary courses, we also offer commissioned courses.

Duties involve teaching at undergraduate level, convening and developing courses, as well as supervision and examination. Teaching duties may vary and may be assigned at short notice. The successful applicant is expected to teach both campus and distance learning courses. Some teaching is conducted in English and some courses are taught during the summer. The successful applicant is expected to actively contribute to the discipline’s development and quality assurance and to the further development of the subject environment and should therefore participate in the daily work at the department. The successful applicant is further expected to participate in research done in the discipline, to conduct research projects of their own and to contribute to applications for external research funding.

A research/professional development component is included in the position, with extended scope if external funding is granted.

The eligibility requirements are a doctor’s degree in Intercultural Studies or a subject area relevant to Intercultural Studies, such as language or cultural studies, documented research and teaching experience, as well as a completed course in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent qualifications. In special circumstances this course may be completed within two years of appointment as part of the professional development commitment.
