Background
The Department of Engineering and Physics within the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology invites applications for a Senior lecturer position in theoretical condensed matter physics. All areas of condensed matter theory will be considered, including, but not limited to materials physics, electronic structure theory, topological phases of matter, mesoscale and nanoscale physics, soft condensed matter and computational physics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop outstanding research programs and contribute significantly to the service and educational activities of the department and University.

As a new member of the growing research environment in materials science, comprising at present about 25 researchers, there is good opportunities for collaboration with researchers in materials physics, in areas such as metals, semiconductors, molecular materials, and nanostructures for optoelectronic and nanomechanical applications, and you will have access to significant research infrastructure with advanced spectroscopy and scanning probe microscopy techniques at the department.

The department has approximately 55 employees, including 9 full professors and offers, among others, PhD programmes in physics and materials engineering, degree programmes in physics, engineering physics, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, as well as teacher education in physics and technology.

Duties
Main duties are:

  • Teaching and assessment in our physics and engineering programs,
  • Create, develop and manage education and courses,
  • Developing, leading and participating in research projects in condensed matter physics, including applications for research funding,
